Important Announcement

As you all know, Paul (~happypelican) has gone home for the summer. A few days before he left, Paul decided he was going to leave the youth crew. Not only was the decision to leave the crew reached, but the decision to shut down the crew account and effectively the crew itself was made. In a few hours, the subscription kindly provided by Diana will run out. Once the subscription runs out, the crew will have officially disbanded.

As far as I know, there are several reasons for this. I'm not going to list all the reasons, because personally I don’t feel I should be the one to do so. If you want to know why, then I guess you'll have to wait until Paul comes back mid-September.

Regarding the issue of why the password was changed a few days ago, someone was messing around with the account and sending notes out to people telling them that they had been "fired" from the crew. I wasn’t prepared to risk the possibility of today’s announcement not being made because of some idiot doing something else that might have lead to the banning of the account.

I guess that’s it. Please don’t harbour any ill feelings towards myself or Paul. It was Paul’s decision to make, and he made it. I’m only acting on his behalf because he wont have access to the internet until September.

What happens from this point onwards I don't know. I guess we'll all have to wait and see, innit.

1. CURRENT STATUS

As may have been noticed, things seem to have changed significantly over the last few weeks. And not for the better. I honestly hoped I'd never have to do this, but it appears I have no choice. So, here are a few 'ground rules':

Firstly: getting 'banned' is not something I ever set this club up to endorse. If you wish to change accounts, do it the sensible, legit way, not thread crashing/spamming/abusing people. If you want to leave the site, fine. Go. If you HAVE to spam and abuse, do it on your own terms. And suffer the consequences. Just don't associate yourself with this account.

Secondly: and this may follow on from the above slightly; attempts to somehow access 'martyr' status by reregistering and creating pointless threads are also something this account was not set up to promote. Given the performances of three such accounts in a thread at the start of last month, and the semi-repeat yesterday, as sad as it is, there's been no option left but to remove two of them from the crew. It's not funny, and they just feed off the people egging them on all the time. It's gone too far.

Thirdly: no more comments like 'I'm in the youth crew so I'm better than you' and 'the youth crew run the forums' etc. Nobody needs it. It just makes us all look stupid. Music elitism is something done tongue-in-cheek, not something to take seriously.

This is basically just a three-rule thing. It's not a totalitarian 'you have to do what I say' order. It's just the application of common sense. And I'm well aware most of the people here don't even need to be told this kind of thing anyway. But it got to the point where something had to be done.

Let's hope we can get back to the fun fun fun.
